SYNOPSIS:

Being granted a second chance at life and a first time at love was every man’s dream, but for Ace it came with a price.
Ace By all rights, he should be dead. Serving ten years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit had affected him in ways he couldn’t begin to understand. He’d rolled out of the slammer and into a revenge plot that almost got him killed. By the grace of God, when he’d hit rock bottom, one person reached out a helping hand.
A beautiful redhead with a penchant for mischief took a shine to him and then disappeared, leaving behind only her number scribbled recklessly on his arm. Assuming he can make out all the numbers, he just might have a chance at something amazing.
Barbara Finally divorcing her narcissistic husband was the best choice Barbara ever made. After living under his control for seven long years, she might have gone a little wild for a minute, what with jumping the hot biker and all. None of that mattered, though, because today was the day she got herself back on track.
After being given the opportunity to excavate a small cache of fossils in a remote area, Barbara is horrified to discover she’s inadvertently led a small team of her archeology students into danger. When they stumble on a secret dumping site of a vicious serial killer, Ace, the big, handsome biker takes charge. But she may have gotten herself and her students into more danger than even he can handle.
*NOTE* Although a part of the Blind Jacks MC series, ACE OF HEARTS can be read as a STANDALONE and features a new couple!

EXCERPT

Cupping his handsome, scarred face in her hands, Barbara kissed him on the lips. “Don’t carry all your brother’s sins around in your heart and head for the rest of your life. You deserve a little peace from all that.”
His expression turned soft. “I honestly don’t deserve you.”
“You know what Shakespeare said.”
“Troubles come not single spies but in battalions?”
She grinned. “He did say that. You really know your Shakespeare.”
“Like I already said, I read a lot when I was in lockup.”
“Well, William Shakespeare also said that if we use every man as he deserves, who shall escape whipping?”
“I guess he was pointing out that no one’s perfect,” Ace surmised.
Somehow, quoting Shakespeare while having her hands on his face shifted the darkness of the moment to something approaching intimate.
Rubbing one thumb over his bottom lip, she murmured, “Then again, he never met you. You’re totally my idea of perfect.”
“Bet you say that to all the guys.” His sexy smile made her girl parts flare to life.
“Please tell me that we’re having sex tonight.”
Ace’s expression lit up. “You want to have some sex with me?”
“Did you miss the part about me thinking you’re perfect?”
Picking up the cherry in her glass by the stem, he brought it to her lips. Parting her lips, Barbara allowed him to slide it into her mouth. Closing her teeth slightly, she waited for him to pull the stem. The intensity of his gaze as he watched her chew made her feel crazy things.
“Fuck, you are one sexy woman.”
She smiling, swallowing the cherry. “Another?”
Without looking away from her, he groped around in his little chilled metal dispenser for another and brought it to her lips. Wrapping her hand around his wrist, she used her other hand to take the cherry from him. Bringing it to his lips, they repeated the whole scenario, only in reverse. Tossing the stem onto the bar, she looked down at his hand. “Your fingers are stained red.”
“I’ve been handling cherries.”
Not taking her eyes off his, she brought his finger to her mouth. He swallowed thickly, as he watched her suck his finger. She swirled her tongue around his thick digit, just like she wanted to do to his cock. That concept wasn’t lost on him.
Hooking his finger behind her lower teeth, he pulled her gently forward. When their mouths collided, white-hot need pulsated through her entire body. Ace was a damned good kisser and those hot lips were making her wild. Sliding her fingers through his hair, she practically climbed over the bar to get more of him, vaguely aware that he was shoving the items on bar to the side.
The next thing she knew, he’d lifted her out of her seat, dragged her over the bar, and was walking off with her. That he could manage all that so gracefully and without breaking their kiss was nothing short of amazing. Barbara liked everything about this man. His casual dress, open honesty, and protective nature got to her like nobody’s business.
And now he was about to get to her in ways, she suspected, that no other man ever had.

EXCERPT

“Does this bother you?”
“Your presence?” I asked, my voice shaky.
“My touch.” There was no waver to his voice. Fluid as water, strong as steel, as assured as any man would be, knowing he'd cornered his prey.
“No.” I inhaled. “Yes.” Exhaled. “Maybe.”
Dark laughter danced along the breeze. “That’s not an answer. Or perhaps it’s the most accurate answer of all.”
When I thought he would continue taunting me as the tips of his fingers stroked up and down, never reaching my knee, never going any place inappropriate, he surprised me with an unexpected question.
“Will you be attending the Masquerade Ball next week?”
“The what?” I squeaked, willing his fingers to go just a little higher, to breach the curve of my knee...to explore down. As usual, he refused to give me what I wanted. I was practically squirming when he finally answered.
“Our annual Masquerade Ball. It is one of the biggest events for the Wishing Well. Every person will be elegantly dressed, their masks concealing their faces. Everybody who is somebody will be there.”
His fingers swept up to tickle the back of my knee and I felt heat bloom between my legs. Just as I thought he’d follow the curve to the back of my thigh, he changed direction, a whisper of touch dragging back down along my calf.
I struggled to speak intelligently, my eyes shut, the bench still softly swinging as birdsong crept within the silence of a clear spring day. Opening my eyes as his fingers kept brushing the skin, a touch but not really, I watched white cotton clouds dance along azure skies, the verdant green of fresh leaves rustling across the dainty branches of tall trees. “I’m just a housekeeper. I’m not sure that qualifies me as somebody.”
“My interest in you qualifies you as somebody,” he answered.

[Review] With this Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Jesse Ward is back in the newest novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling This Man series!

Life is good for Jesse "The Lord" Ward. Perfect, actually. He still has the charm, he's in great shape, and he still reduces his wife, Ava, to a pool of desire with a mere look. He's in full control, just how he likes it.

But Jesse's perfect world falls apart when a terrible accident lands Ava in the hospital with a life-threatening head injury. Devastated and angry, he feels like his entire existence hangs in the balance. He cannot survive without this woman's love. So when she finally comes around, his shaking world begins to level out. But his nightmare doesn't end there. It's only just begun. Because his wife can't remember the last sixteen years of her life. That's all of him. All of their time together. He is a stranger to her.

Now Jesse must do whatever it takes to find her memories . . . and help her fall madly, passionately in love with him all over again.

Why?
Why is it in any other book I read or in real life for that matter feel like if a man is overbearing, possesive, demanding and basically being mentally abusive in some way or fashion; that it's disgusting and should be reported to authorities.
Yet, when it's Jesse Ward... it's completely okay. It makes your heart swoon! Damn it!
I fell in love with This Man, way back when it first came out. When I saw there was another installment it was instantly up for pre-order.
Anywho, back to the book.
Jesse Ward. Lord of the Manor. Possesive and gets crazy mad over things (Ava) not doing as he wants. From any description of him, he's a caveman. But a caveman with a heart that beats solely for his wife.
They've been married for twelve years, have eleven year old twins and Jesse is still rocking his gorgeous looks at fifty. But it all comes crashing down when Ava can't remember a damn thing about the past sixteen years after an accident.
I couldn't put the book down as not only Ava fell back in love with Jesse, but so did I as  reader. Going through Every. Single. F##k that he offers. Reliving the countdown.. It's perfect.
It's also hard to feel the pain of them both at the loss of their lives and the turmoil of trying to remember while making new memories.
So many ups and downs in this book. Regardless though of how it goes, trouble is never far behind and it's scary, a huge twist and downright heartbreaking in the end.
Even though I felt like I was reading a condensed version of the previous books... I love it and would read the whole damn series all over again if I could.
Another, perfect ending to the series.

[Review] Don't Look at Me By J. P. Grider

Haven:
A diligent hand carved this hole in my face.
It stole my confidence, my identity, and ended my short-lived career as a broadcast journalist.
I am now unemployed. Alone. Ugly.
And expected to get over it and move on.
Go on living life as usual—as if the world doesn’t judge the grotesquely unattractive.

Quest:
It’s been three years since I was kicked out of the Army for nearly killing the opposition’s militia commander with my bare hands.
I am now unemployed. Alone. Angry.
And expected to forget the nightmares that hold me hostage and move on.
Go on living life as usual—as if the world doesn’t judge a dishonorably discharged ex-soldier.

Don’t Look at Me is a modern-day Beauty and the Beast tale—reversed and twisted. Because even the ugly need a good story, and even the beautiful are ugly deep down.

I don't like sleep anyway!
I started this around 9pm... finished it about 3am. I couldn't put it down! Thanks J. P. Grider lol!
Anyway this is the story of how Haven and Quest, while battling their own demons, solve them by being around each other.
Upon reading the letter at the end of the book, tired and well tired, I found myself crying. it was the perfect ending for the book.
Quest has internal scars from his past 1 is clearly obvious through the pages, but the 2nd was a jaw dropper.
As for Haven, her main scars are physical, harder to hide and her own enemy. That's not to say that she doesn't have mental scars thanks to her mother. I completely get why her mothers words are in the back of her mind all the time.
When that ding-dong goes down though, my suspicions were confirmed and yes I watch too much crime TV to not try and solve a crime in a fictional book!
I can't say why I love this book so much. It's a mix of the plot and the beautifully broken main characters. it's the fact that they're both attracted to each other but it's not hitting you in the face like a brick wall constantly. it's also the love between a grandfather and grandson that's heartbreaking on it's own but it's beautiful that regardless he's there dealing with things when he can, even in death.

[Review] Conflicted Interest by Ava Starke

Theo flies to Athens for a wedding with a plan: stay for the vows, raise a toast, and get the hell back to work. He's staring down the barrel of the biggest gamble of his career, and can't afford the distractions of a glamorous city or desirable women; neither of which excite him much anyway.

Until he meets Audrey.

Brilliant, ruthless, and set on conquering the finance world, the young exec would rather be catching a London red-eye, than a mangled wedding bouquet. But when tall, mysterious Theo pulls her onto the dance floor, all thoughts of clients and contracts vanish. The man is intoxicating; his warm touch lingers long after his hands have left her body. They're from different cities and different worlds--it would never work.

And yet she's haunted by the brush of his lips against her throat, the delicious press of his body...

But Theo is keeping secrets that could break Audrey's heart and destroy everything she's worked for. In this careful dance of power and seduction, has Theo finally met his match?

Conflicted Interest is the first steamy installment of the sensual contemporary romance Conflicted Series, intended for ages 18+.

💙 Copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 💙

This book has left me feeling conflicted! After a few months I decided to pick my Kindle back up - shock! I was able to carry on without going back over the previous chapters, which is also a good thing.
Audrey and Theo meet at Audrey's ex's wedding - Awks - and have some chemistry...
After the short wedding fling they both head their separate ways; until Audrey pulls up her big girl pants and goes on an adventure just for some fun.
This is the part that gets the ball rolling and a few of my own "Oooh, lets take a guess at who he really is" moments.
They end up skirting around each other and also making assumptions. Tons of Assumptions!
but in the end it all comes out... The truth that is... and yet we continue assuming.
Just as the book ends it - you get a God damn cliffhanger! and this is where my conflict comes in.
I like the story and i want to know what the heck happens BUT I also find myself drifting over a ton of detail. It's great that you can literally see everything in your head... but i'm the kinda reader who wants the action, which is all my own personal preference.
Maybe.
I'll download a sample just in case.
